I think we are a work culture of multi tasking and continous productivity. Add to that the importance of the issues and pressure to solve them and you can have a pressure cooker.

I was at my desk catching up on my industry reading on my working lunch with piles of grant admin paperwork and non-development-related projects when I started to read your post. I was even feeling a little guilty for taking me-time during my workday to read something I was more interested in personally than organizationally.
