Got Your Copy of The Wild Woman’s Guide to Social Media Yet?

This is me with the book, after two long years, publishing it and putting it in Powells Books in Portland, Oregon!
If you got your copy, send me a picture (tweet it, email it, mail it, instagram, whatever you like) and I’ll add you to the site!
Writing this book took a really long time. Two years! It was hard. The title changed. The collaborators changed. The internet changed! My own ideas about what the internet and social media were changed. And my notions about the importance of privacy, even while we use social media, got deeper and more refined. I learned lots of new ways to get more private online, and I’ve shared them in this book as well.
For the last 6 weeks I’ve been working feverishly on it. Night and day. Just trying to get it done. Really glamorous stuff like checking all of the links. Making sure all the footnotes were correct. Formatting the chapter headings. Getting the table of contents to look right. Now that it’s done I feel relieved.
I’d love to hear what you think of it, if you’ve read it, and if you send me a picture of yourself holding the book,!
Here’s your link to get the book.
“When you have chosen your part, abide by it and do not weakly try to reconcile yourself to the world. The heroic cannot be the common, nor the common heroic. Congratulate yourself if you have done something strange and extravagant, and broken the monotony of a decorous age.”

Hey Wild Woman! Read your book and thought it was a great, no-nonsense overview of social media and why I should care about it. Many people are just “waiting” to share their ideas via a book or movie vs. understanding they can start the conversation NOW via social media. You helped me understand how to do that in a meaningful way by creating and soliciting valuable content and opinions. Nice job.

Thanks so much for your compliment Allison! I appreciate it!
that is my goal with this book, to help people start that conversation, not next year, but when they want to. And the platforms have gotten so much easier to use, that with just a little support, anyone can start to blog. Keeping it going after a few years though… that’s a different story!
